When you are suffering from severe tooth decay, damage, or a painful infection, a root canal is the safest and easiest way to protect your smile and prevent the infection from spreading. This treatment not only alleviates pain, but it also restores the functionality of the tooth so you can use it to enjoy a full diet without the need for extraction and replacement.

While the best way to determine if you need a root canal is to visit Dr. Hegazi for an emergency exam, you may notice symptoms on your own that could indicate a need for urgent treatment. If you are experiencing any of the following, please contact Admired Smiles as soon as possible:
Root canal treatment was designed to treat teeth with severe decay or damage, or teeth with infected pulp. Please be aware that even if you aren’t experiencing any painful symptoms, your tooth could still be infected and pose a danger to other nearby teeth. Worse yet, infections can spread beyond just the teeth and throughout the body, causing serious illness.

There are many reasons you may need a root canal, such as a broken tooth or untreated cavity which could allow harmful oral bacteria to infect your sensitive tooth pulp.
Your root canal treatment will always begin with Dr. Hegazi administering local anesthesia to the area needing treatment, so it is completely numb before any work begins. Next, Dr. Hegazi will use small, special instruments to remove the infected pulp that is responsible for your toothache. Once it is cleared away, the tooth will be filled with a synthetic material called gutta percha, which rebuilds the structure and shape of the tooth. A temporary crown will then be placed on the tooth until your permanent restoration arrives, usually in about two weeks. Once your permanent crown arrives, you will be scheduled to return to Admired Smiles, where your temporary crown will be removed and your permanent crown will be cemented in place.

You may have heard those old Hollywood tropes about root canal treatment being painful or scary, but the good news is that with today’s advanced procedures and anesthesia, that dated reputation is simply no longer true. In fact, most patients report feeling immediate relief after a root canal, not pain.
There are many benefits to getting a root canal treatment, namely that you can preserve your natural tooth without needing to extract and replace it later on. This benefits you both financially and health-wise, because you won’t need to deal with any of the oral health problems related to losing a permanent tooth such as jawbone deterioration, difficulty eating and speaking clearly, and tooth drift.
Dr. Hegazi uses durable, lifelike dental crowns that won’t highlight the damage to your tooth, and when well cared for after treatment, your treated tooth should last for the rest of your life. Still, it is important to prevent future damage, so be sure to maintain an excellent oral hygiene routine, including brushing twice a day, flossing daily, and visiting Dr. Hegazi twice a year for your preventive dental exams and cleanings.

If you have a severely broken or decayed tooth or have developed a chronic or persistent toothache, the last thing you want to have to worry about is whether you can afford the necessary treatment.
It’s natural to wonder how much your root canal might cost, but the answer can depend on your unique circumstances. Continue reading to learn more about how pricing is determined and how our office helps make services affordable!
Our team won’t be able to provide an accurate estimate for your procedure until after we’ve examined your current dental condition. There are several factors that can potentially influence the total amount due, such as:
Extractions can sometimes be cheaper initially than root canals, leading some patients to question whether it would be simpler and more cost-effective to remove their troublesome tooth rather than try to repair it. But there are additional risks associated with tooth loss, so it’s usually better for your oral health to protect and preserve your natural teeth.
For instance, without a root to stimulate new bone growth with each bite down, your jawbone begins to thin. It can eventually grow too frail to support your remaining teeth, which can result in additional loss. A thinning jaw can also contribute to changes in your facial structure, like a protruding chin or fine lines that can detract from your self-confidence.
Root canal treatment is usually considered a major procedure, and many dental insurance policies cover anywhere from 50% to 80% of the price. But every plan is different and there are no guarantees, so it’s worth checking the details of your coverage before proceeding.
If you’d like assistance with insurance information, claims, or paperwork, please feel free to contact our office. Our friendly staff are familiar with the process and are happy to help you maximize available benefits.
Dr. Hegazi and the rest of our team understand that not all patients have dental insurance, and we don’t want your current financial situation to prevent you from undergoing this potentially smile-saving procedure. If you’re concerned about affording your treatment, you might benefit from a flexible payment plan through CareCredit.
If your application is approved, you can select a low- to no-interest payment plan that allows you to divide your total invoice into more manageable installments, which can be easier on your budget.
